Angel Eyes Fitness and Nutrition

About Angel Eyes

Angel Eyes Fitness and Nutrition, Inc., located in Covington, GA, is a proud 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to improving the lives of individuals with low vision. Established in 2016 by our visionary founder, Dawn Wells, our mission began uniquely at the National Federation of the Blind’s state convention, where Dawn led her inaugural Dance Fitness class. Despite initial doubts about its success, the program received positive feedback and encouragement from Vanessa Meadows of the Georgia Libraries of Accessible Statewide Services. This pivotal moment led to the creation of “Sight Unseen Dance Fitness,” which has since evolved into our flagship initiative, “Angel Eyes Dance Fitness.”

Our organization is committed to providing specialized group fitness programs and nutritional counseling, designed to meet the specific needs of our clients. Our aim is to foster a nurturing and inclusive environment that supports the well-being of our community.

In 2019, we expanded our offerings to include seven group fitness classes held bi-monthly in East Point and Rutledge, GA. These sessions quickly became a cornerstone of our community’s vibrant social life. Responding to the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we transitioned our programs online in 2020, maintaining vital community connections and extending our reach across the nation. We currently offer thirteen (13) online group fitness programs, running three to four days a week with onsite classes on 1st, 2nd and 3rd Saturdays in Marietta, Decatur, East Point and Covington, GA.

Our approach integrates onsite and live remote instruction, ensuring our programs are accessible whether participants join in person from local areas or remotely from their homes. Our classes, which are free of charge, are also available to participants using Silver Sneakers. We collaborate with Lions Clubs International to provide trained class guides for safe and effective workouts and offer complimentary Uber transportation to help participants access our classes.

Achieving our 501(c)(3) status in 2017 was a significant milestone, reinforcing our commitment to empowering the blind and low vision community through fitness and nutrition.
