Angel Eyes Fitness and Nutrition
Angel Eyes Fitness and Nutrition, Inc., based in Covington, GA, proudly holds a 501(c)(3) non-profit status and is passionately dedicated to empowering those with low vision. Our journey began in 2016, inspired by Dawn Wells, our visionary founder. The roots of our unique fitness approach were planted when Dawn taught her first Dance Fitness class to the blind and low vision community at the National Federation of the Blind’s state convention in 2016. Initially, Dawn believed the class hadn’t been successful. However, this perception changed when Vanessa Meadows from the Georgia Libraries of Accessible Statewide Services approached her, having heard positive feedback about the class. She requested a similar program, leading to the development of “Sight Unseen Dance Fitness,” which has flourished into “Angel Eyes Dance Fitness,” our flagship program.
Our mission includes providing specialized group fitness and nutritional counseling, tailored to the individual requirements of our clients. Our objective is to create a nurturing and inclusive environment for our community.
In 2019, Angel Eyes began offering seven (7) group fitness programs in East Point and Rutledge, GA. These sessions, held on the 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 12 pm – 1 pm EST, create a vibrant community atmosphere. Adapting to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, we transitioned to online classes. This strategic shift not only helped us to maintain our community connection but also allowed us to extend our reach nationally. From April 2020, we have been conducting weekly online classes via Zoom, adding to our schedule with sessions on Mondays at 6:30 pm EST, the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays at 12 pm EST, and Thursdays and Saturdays at 12 pm EST. Currently, Angel Eyes offers thirteen (13) online group fitness programs, available 3-4 days a week.
Our innovative approach includes a blend of onsite and live remote instruction, ensuring accessibility for participants both in person in cities like Marietta, Decatur, East Point, and Covinton, GA, and remotely for those joining from home. While our classes are free, we also welcome participants using Silver Sneakers. In collaboration with Lions Clubs International, we provide trained class guides for safe and effective workouts, and we offer complimentary Uber transportation to facilitate access to our classes.
Angel Eyes was officially granted its 501(c)(3) designation in 2017, marking a significant milestone in our commitment to enhancing the lives of the blind and low vision through fitness and nutrition.
