Angel Eyes Fitness and Nutrition, Inc. located in Covington, GA is a 501(c)(3) established to empower and equip the Blind and Visually Impaired with specially targeted and tailored fitness and nutrition counseling programs. Established in 2016 by its founder Dawn Wells, Angel Eyes initial start came as a result of a 6-week Fitness Program requested by Vanessa Meadows, who was the current Program Director with the Georgia Libraries of Accessible Statewide Services. It is also at this time “Sight Unseen Dance Fitness” now “Angel Eyes Dance Fitness”, our first program was birthed. Angel Eyes also offers nutritional counseling to groups and individuals and tailored to the needs of each clientele.
In 2019, Angel Eyes started offering seven (7) group fitness programs in East Point, GA, and Rutledge, GA on 2nd and 4th Saturdays from 12 pm – 1 pm EST in a fun communal environment. When the National pandemic COVID-19 erupted in 2020 Angel Eyes moved classes solely online which opened it up to the nation. And in April of 2020, classes began being offered every Saturday online via Zoom, an online interactive, web conferencing tool. As of 2021, Angel Eyes now offers ten (10) online group fitness programs, 3 days a week (Mondays 6:30pm EST, Thursdays 12pm EST and Saturdays 12pm EST)! While classes are FREE to participants Silver Sneakers is accepted. With the inclusion of web conferencing, classes will soon be available live in multiple locations and available at home to participants unable to get class sites. The goal will be to increase offerings in frequency and location. Angel Eyes has partnered with the Lions Clubs International who provides trained class “guides” to assist with proper form execution ensuring a safe environment. And for some locations, Uber is also offered to participants.
In 2017 Angel Eyes received its official 501(c)(3) designation.
